Job summary

SMEC (An SJ Group Company) in the Philippines is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to lead design management and coordinate landscape design activities with international and local consultants, ensuring a consistent, high‑quality outcome for waterfront and mixed‑use projects.

You will review concept to construction drawings, check planting, drainage, and materials, ensure compliance with Philippine codes, and mentor teams to deliver complete, well‑documented deliverables on schedule.

Qualifications

• Must hold a licensed landscape architectural credential (PRC) or a relevant degree.
• Master's degree is advantageous for senior leadership roles.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in large-scale projects.
• Experience with waterfront or mixed-use developments preferred.
• Knowledge of Philippine codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design management leadership and coordination of landscape design activities.
• Collaborate with international and local consultants for consistent design.
• Coordinate with civil, drainage, roads, utilities and architectural teams.
• Review designs from concept to construction stages.
• Check planting, irrigation, drainage, and material durability.
• Ensure designs suit tropical and coastal conditions.
• Deliver and track resolution of comments; monitor timelines.
• Ensure compliance with Philippine laws and standards.
• Get designs signed by licensed Landscape Architects and support permits.
• Maintain submission tracking and document control.
• Report status to Project Manager and attend stakeholder meetings.

• Support design decisions and value engineering.
• Design Review (Quality)
• Review designs from concept to construction stages.
• Check planting, materials, irrigation, drainage, and durability.
• Ensure suitability for tropical and coastal conditions.
• Provide and track resolution of comments.
• Schedule Monitoring
• Track design progress against timelines.
• Identify delays and recommend solutions.
• Review consultants' progress reports.
• Compliance
• Ensure compliance with Philippine laws and standards.
• Confirm designs are signed by licensed Landscape Architects.
• Support regulatory approvals and permits.
• Deliverables Control
• Ensure drawings and documents are complete and coordinated.
• Maintain submission tracking and document control.
• Reporting & Support
• Report status (quality, schedule, risks) to the Project Manager.
• Attend coordination meetings with stakeholders.
• Support construction-phase reviews when required.

Qualifications, Skills And Experiences

• Licensed Landscape Architect (PRC) or holder of a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture.
• Master's degree in landscape architecture or a related field will be an advantage.
• 10-15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in large-scale mixed-use or waterfront projects.
• Experience managing design consultants.
• Knowledge of Philippine codes and standards.
• Understanding of planting, drainage, hardscape, and public realm design.
• Ability to review drawings and coordinate across disciplines.
• Strong design judgment and attention to quality.
• Good communication and coordination skills
