Umpisa Inc. in the Philippines is seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable web apps using React on the frontend and NestJS on the backend, owning features end-to-end and collaborating with product and design teams.

You will refine data models, tackle performance and scalability challenges, mentor teammates, and contribute to CI/CD and tooling. The role requires 5+ years of full-stack experience, strong TypeScript skills, and REST/GraphQL API

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React (hooks, state management, component architecture).
• Strong hands-on experience with NestJS or a similar Node.js framework.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript with a solid grasp of type-safe design.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Databases: PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB (relational/noSQL).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, RTL, Cypress).
• Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Docker/Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
• Microservices and message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Open-source contributions or strong personal project portfolio.
• Mentoring or leading engineers; strong communication.
• Willingness to travel for training in Singapore and Manila.

Work Set-up

• Hybrid set-up
• October: On-site training in Singapore (travel provision included).
• November – December: Continuation of training on-site in Manila.
• Standard work arrangement resumes thereafter, in line with the assigned project’s requirements.

Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features using React on the frontend and NestJS (Node.js/TypeScript) on the backend
• Architect scalable, well-tested APIs and services, and contribute to our data modeling and system design
• Own features from technical design through deployment and monitoring in production
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested TypeScript code and participate in code reviews
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and scalability challenges
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help raise the technical bar across the team
• Contribute to engineering best practices, tooling, and CI/CD processes
• Familiarity and relevant experience with the insurance industry
• Conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and training for team members and stakeholders, including during the Singapore (October) and Manila (November–December) training engagements.
• Develop and deliver training materials, guides, and documentation to support upskilling and smooth knowledge handover.
• 5+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with React (hooks, state management, component architecture)
• Strong hands-on experience with NestJS or a similar Node.js framework (Express, Fastify)
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript, with a solid grasp of type-safe design across frontend and backend
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
• Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or similar)
• Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with microservices architecture and message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal project portfolio
• Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and driving successful project outcomes.
• Prior experience conducting Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions, training, or facilitation for teams and/or clients is highly preferred.
• Willingness and availability to travel to Singapore for training in October, and to continue training in Manila from November to December.
