Job summary

Umpisa Inc. is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to own the end-to-end technical solution architecture for diverse projects.

You will lead architectural discovery, map requirements to detailed designs, and guide teams through modern patterns such as microservices and event-driven architectures. You will mentor engineers, drive security and compliance considerations, and collaborate with delivery managers, product owners, and clients to align scope, timelines, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 8–10 years in software engineering with 3–5 years in Solutions Architect or technical leadership role.
• Experience designing enterprise-grade cloud/on-premise architectures.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP); multi-cloud a plus.
• Knowledge of API design, data architecture, and DevOps/CI-CD.
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Security, data privacy, and compliance awareness in solution design.
• Leadership and mentoring of engineers in architecture and design.
• Experience documenting architecture (SAD/ADRs/roadmaps).
• Stakeholder management and ability to present to C-level.
• Experience with Jira/Confluence/Azure DevOps.
• Willingness to travel for training (Singapore/Manila).
• Insurance industry familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solution architectures meeting business, technical, security, and scalability requirements.
• Lead architectural discovery and recommend optimal stacks, platforms, and tools for each engagement.
• Translate requirements into detailed technical designs, diagrams, and integration blueprints.
• Define architectural standards, patterns and best practices across teams.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to development, QA and infra teams.
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks including performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Product Owners and stakeholders on scope, timeline, budget.

Work Set-up:

• October: On-site training in Singapore (travel provision included).
• November - December: Continuation of training on-site in Manila.

Job Summary:

• He/she shall be responsible for the end-to-end technical solution architecture of assigned projects and shall also be responsible in the preparation of the following deliverables, in connection with assigned project:
• Solution Architecture Document (SAD)
• Technical Design and Integration Specifications
• Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
• Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) and Capacity/Scalability Plan
• Technology Roadmap and Migration Plan (When applicable)

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Design end-to-end solution architectures that meet business, technical, security, and scalability requirements
• Lead architectural discovery, evaluate technology options, and recommend the optimal stack, platforms, and tools for each engagement.
• Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs, system diagrams, and integration blueprints.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices across development teams.
• Provide technical leadership and hands‑on guidance to development, QA, and infrastructure teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate architectural and technical risks, including performance, security, and scalability concerns.
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to align solution architecture with project scope, timeline, and budget.
• Review code, designs, and technical deliverables to ensure adherence to architectural direction and quality standards.
• Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, cloud services, and modern architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven, serverless).
• Support pre-sales and solutioning activities, including technical proposals, estimations, and architecture presentations to clients.
• Ensure solutions comply with organizational standards, governance, security, and data privacy requirements.
• Facilitate architecture review boards, design workshops, and technical stakeholder communications as required.
• Conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and training for engineering teams and stakeholders, including during the Singapore (October) and Manila (November-December) training engagements.
• Develop and deliver technical training materials, architecture guides, and documentation to support upskilling and smooth knowledge handover.
• Support continuous improvement of architecture practices, tooling, and delivery processes across the organization.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a Solutions Architect or comparable technical leadership role.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade, cloud-based, and/or on-premise solution architectures.
• Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks and principles (e.g., TOGAF, microservices, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design).
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform); multi-cloud experience is an advantage.
• Solid understanding of API design, system integration patterns, data architecture, and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of application security, data privacy, and compliance considerations in solution design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and mentor engineers on architecture and design best practices.
• Experience preparing and maintaining architecture documentation, including solution designs, ADRs, and technical roadmaps.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences, including C-level stakeholders.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.
• Familiarity and relevant experience with the insurance industry
• Prior experience conducting Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions, training, or facilitation for teams and/or clients is highly preferred.
• Willingness and availability to travel to Singapore for training in October, and to continue training in Manila from November to December.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF, or equivalent are highly preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and driving successful technical outcomes.
