Job summary

Easy Staff is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator - Heavy Steel Fabrication & Quality Support to join an Australian steel fabrication and engineering team. Hybrid role with roughly 70% Estimator Support and 30% Quality Support, assisting the Senior Estimator with estimates, take-offs, supplier pricing, and tender documentation.

The role requires hands-on estimating for heavy fabrication (structural steel, chutes, frames, trusses, and process piping) and quality documentation including QA

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Australian steel fabrication estimating experience.
• Experience preparing MTOs, estimates, quotations or tender submissions.
• Hands-on estimating experience with heavy steel fabrication (structural steel, chutes, frames, trusses, process piping).
• Strong understanding of fabrication methods, material specs, welding and labour needs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering, structural, mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings for heavy steel fabrication.
• Estimate fabrication work including structural steel, chutes, frames, and process piping.
• Prepare cutting lists, material quantities, and pricing.
• Review RFQs and project documentation for estimating.
• Liaise with suppliers for current material costs and lead times.
• Prepare quotes, proposals, and tender submissions.
• Support with documentation and QA packs as required.
• Collaborate with Senior Estimator, PMs, and QA team.
• Date-stamp and track estimating activity and variations.
