Schneider Electric in Rosario, Cavite is seeking a tooling engineer to optimize plastic component manufacturing. The role focuses on localization, tooling transfer, capacity expansion, and cross-functional coordination across procurement, production, and quality teams.

You will conduct diagnostics to improve processes and layouts, elevating efficiency and product quality. Candidates should bring hands-on tooling and cost-management skills to drive electrical plastics manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Molding/Manufacturing/Mechanical Eng).
• Around 3 years of experience in plastic molding or related fabrication processes.
• Surface treatment/Heat treatment knowledge is a plus.
• Component cost structure, Kaizen and tooling management are important.

Responsibilities

• Define the need for new tools by gathering inputs from teams.
• Launch tooling with technical and financial studies (CTMP/IAR).
• Issue and sign tooling contracts with suppliers; establish maintenance plan.
• Monitor tool condition and perform tooling audits periodically.

Job description

You play a pivotal role in optimizing plastic component and tooling processes to support technological advancements in manufacturing. You manage key industrial projects within the country, focusing on localization, transfers, and capacity increases. By coordinating cross-functional teams, you ensure alignment across procurement, production, and quality control efforts. You conduct comprehensive diagnostics to improve processes and layouts, enhancing overall operational performance and efficiency. Your mission is to enhance both efficiency and quality in plastic component manufacturing and tooling, with a direct impact on production outcomes. Through your work, you contribute to increased production efficiency and product quality across the organization. As a specialized technical expert, you apply your deep knowledge of plastic component manufacturing and tooling to address complex challenges. You actively develop innovative solutions, applying your expertise to the design and implementation of technical processes and policies that facilitate plastic component industrialization. You bring a broader technical understanding to the role, delivering results that significantly impact your job area. You make decisions regarding your work and priorities, often guided by precedent, technical standards, and documented procedures, with some room for interpretation in ambiguous situations. You also provide coaching and mentorship to other professionals, offering guidance on complex or non-routine issues. Your work is reviewed for accuracy and quality, ensuring optimal performance in plastic component and tooling engineering.

What will you do?

Define the need for new tools

• Get inputs from different teams to define the need for new tools (project, capacity, localization, QVE, CoS, PEP/PMP)
• Define the tools to be renewed (end of life)
• Estimate molding cost and part cost
• Initiate and propose budget (CAPEX and OPEX)

Launch tools with technical and financial study

• Follow CTMP and complete Internal Quotation
• Complete IAR with proposal and recommendation
• Schedule tooling project and follow up until qualification of tool

Buy off tools, keep all related documents and establish a maintenance plan

• Issue tooling contract and engage supplier (tool maker and tool processor) to sign the tooling contract otherwise define actions and follow up until it is acceptable for all parties
• Establish a tool maintenance plan with a maintenance budget

Monitor tool condition and perform tooling audits periodically

• Establish a tool audit plan and follow the plan
• Perform tooling audit and complete audit report with actions (if needed) to ensure tooling condition and avoid tool breakdown

Support CS&Q and Purchasing team for tooling aspects

• Support the CS&Q team when there is a component quality issue related to the tools

What qualifications will make you successful?

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with specialization in Molding technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• (3) years of work-related experience in plastic molding making/operating or part fabrication process, with Surface treatment and Heat Treatment background is a plus
• Component cost structure, Mechanical Design, Continuous improvement and Kaizen, plastic tool management skills, Material selection, Engineering drawing (ISO8015), Tooling
• Problem-solving skill, Plastic mold structure, Plastic injection Press, and all secondary related processes
• Amenable to work in Rosario, Cavite
• Working arrangements: 5x a week reporting onsite, compressed work week
