SENIOR ENGINEER
POSITION TITLE: Senior Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTING TO: Area Manager / Projects and Operations Manager / CEO and President
LOCATION: Santa Cruz, Manila
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and overseeing the successful execution of construction projects from planning to completion. This position ensures that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
The Senior Engineer will lead and guide Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and other technical personnel while coordinating closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
1. Project Management
- Oversee the overall engineering and construction activities of assigned projects.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure projects are completed according to approved plans, specifications, budget, and timeline.
- Identify potential project issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate with management regarding project status, concerns, and recommendations.
2. Technical Supervision
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
- Ensure construction works are executed in accordance with approved plans and engineering standards.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance to project and site engineers.
- Review technical submissions, method statements, material specifications, and shop drawings.
- Resolve technical issues and coordinate with consultants and other project stakeholders when necessary.
3. Cost and Quantity Control
- Review project estimates, quantity take-offs, cutting lists, and material requirements.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to minimize unnecessary expenses.
- Review variations, additional works, and change orders.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Finance regarding project material requirements and costs.
- Ensure proper utilization of materials, manpower, and equipment.
4. Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and technical staff.
- Provide technical direction and support to the project team.
- Monitor the performance and productivity of engineering personnel.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings and ensure proper communication among team members.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and teamwork on project sites.
5. Quality and Safety
- Ensure construction activities comply with quality standards and approved specifications.
- Coordinate with the Safety Officer to maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor quality control procedures and ensure deficiencies are properly addressed.
- Participate in inspections, testing, punch listing, and project turnover activities.
6. Client and Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as a senior technical representative of the company during project meetings.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Address technical concerns and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and project partners.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Review engineering reports, progress reports, accomplishment reports, and technical documentation.
- Monitor project records, drawings, site instructions, and other project documents.
- Prepare recommendations and reports for management when required.
- Ensure proper documentation of project changes, issues, and completed works.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field.
- Preferably a Licensed Civil Engineer.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Proven experience in project management, site supervision, and construction operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, specifications, and engineering standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of quantity take-off, estimates, costing, and project monitoring.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/construction software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar software is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Willing to conduct site visits and travel to project locations when required.
