Job summary

Fyfe Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer based in the Philippines, working remotely with Australian project teams. You will design HV substations and utility infrastructure, deliver detailed construction drawings, and coordinate multidisciplinary design packages across time zones.

You will bring a degree in electrical engineering and 8+ years in design consultancy, with strong HV experience and proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD, ETAP, EMTP or PSCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 8+ years experience in a design consultancy environment.
• Strong HV substation design experience and detailed design delivery using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience delivering electrical designs across renewable energy, transmission, substations, power generation, hydrogen, oil & gas or related energy sectors.
• Proven capability in LV/HV power generation and distribution system design including transformer and switchgear selection.
• Experience completing HV/LV power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection, earthing, harmonics).
• Proficiency with electrical modelling tools such as ETAP, EMTP or PSCAD.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (AS 2067, IEEE 80, AS/NZS 1768, AS 3000, AS 3008, IEEE 1584, NFPA 70).
• Excellent written and verbal English, and ability to collaborate remotely across locations and time zones.
• Experience supporting Australian projects or working to Australian Standards is highly regarded.

Job description

Fyfe's Power & Electrification Division partners with major energy developers and infrastructure clients to deliver large-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects across Australia. Based in the Philippines, you will work remotely as part of an integrated project team, contributing to greenfield developments and the upgrade and expansion of existing networks that support Australia's energy transition.

As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP) projects for wind farms, solar farms and BESS developments, while also supporting HV transmission and distribution infrastructure. You will collaborate virtually with experienced engineers and designers across Australia and the Philippines, gaining exposure to a broad range of technical disciplines and some of Australia's most significant energy projects.

This permanent work-from-home role offers exposure to HV substations, switchyards, underground and overhead reticulation systems, grid connection infrastructure and utility coordination activities. You will contribute to complex technical projects in a supportive team environment, with regular online collaboration across locations and time zones.

This position is open to candidates residing in the Philippines. The successful candidate will be employed locally through a third-party employment agency and will work exclusively with Fyfe's Power & Electrification Division.

The Impact You'll Have

What You'll Bring

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer based in the Philippines who is comfortable working remotely with Australian project teams, solving complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality outcomes across a diverse portfolio.

A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.

8+ years' experience within a design consultancy environment.

Strong experience in HV substation design and detailed design delivery using MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Experience delivering electrical engineering designs across renewable energy, transmission, substations, power generation, hydrogen, oil & gas or related energy sectors.

Proven capability undertaking LV and HV power generation and distribution systems design, including equipment selection such as transformers, circuit breakers and associated electrical infrastructure.

Experience completing HV and LV power system studies including load flow, short circuit, cable sizing, arc flash, discrimination and protection, earthing and harmonics assessments.

Proficiency using electrical modelling software such as ETAP, EMTP or PSCAD.

Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, including AS 2067, IEEE 80, AS/NZS 1768, AS 3000, AS 3008, IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70.

Strong written and verbal English communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, cross-border team.

Previous experience supporting Australian projects or working to Australian Standards is highly regarded.

It would be great if you also have experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage Switchboard design in accordance with AS 61439 and exposure to instrumentation and control systems.
