Job summary

Fluence is seeking a Sr. Solutions Engineer/ Electrical Design Engineer to provide technical analysis and engineering support for BESS projects, interfacing with ISO/TSO representatives and developing design standards for grid-scale energy systems.

The role reports to the Solutions Engineering Manager and collaborates with Project Engineers and Field Engineers to standardize BESS Power Systems, ensuring compliance and high-quality deliverables across projects.

Qualifications

DC/AC power systems design and engineering with 5+ years experience.
In-depth knowledge of power system protection.
Experience with utility grid operations, load flow studies, and transmission planning.
Familiarity with PEC, NEC, IEC, NGCP, ERC, and DOE standards.
Strong technical writing skills for design standards and specifications.
BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering)

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Business Development team to deliver complete, cost-effective proposals for potential future projects.
Develop and maintain design standards, templates and tools for the BESS Power System.
Develop and maintain standard equipment specifications for bulk DC/AC Power System Components – HV substations, MV switchgears, MV & HV transformers, MV conductors, LV conductors.
Develop and maintain standardized protection and control scheme methodology for MV collection system and HV utility network coordination.
Responsible for the development, implementation and modelling of a system level PSLF/PSSE load flow model for utility scale grid interactive inverter systems in collaboration with BOP contractor.
Work with external consultants to provide engineering details and design for large generation interconnection documentation and budgeting.
