Job summary

SMEC is a global engineering consultancy seeking a senior Civil Engineer with extensive dredging and reservoir rehabilitation experience. The role requires deep knowledge of dredging methods, sediment transport, and dam safety, with proven ability to manage international donor-funded projects and interpret complex drawings and plans.

The candidate should hold a Civil Engineering degree (Masters preferred), be licensed, and have strong MS Office/reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s in Hydraulic/Water Resources preferred.
• Minimum 8-12 years of civil engineering experience; 5+ years in dam/reservoir/hydropower projects.
• Experience in dredging operations (reservoir desiltation, intake clearing, river training works).
• Experience with environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Apply dredging methodologies (cutter suction, clamshell, backhoe).
• Lead large-scale reservoir rehabilitation projects.
• Understand sediment transport and reservoir siltation.
• Familiarity with hydrographic survey software.
• Knowledge of dam safety and intake protection requirements.
• Work under FIDIC-based contracts.
• Interpret engineering drawings and dredging plans.
• Experience with international donor-funded projects.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project reporting tools.
