Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) invites applications for a senior civil engineering role focused on dam, reservoir, and hydropower projects in the Philippines. The role requires extensive dredging knowledge, licenses, and proven experience with international donor-funded schemes.

You will interpret engineering drawings, support quantities and contractor billing, ensure environmental compliance, and contribute to large-scale reservoir rehabilitation efforts using varied dredging methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering as a baseline qualification.
• Master's in Hydraulic/Water Resources Engineering is preferred.
• Licensed/Registered Civil Engineer in good standing.
• Training in Marine/Dredging Operations and related certifications.
• Construction Safety Certification and ISO 14001 awareness.
• QA/QC or Construction Inspection Training and Hydrographic Survey Training.
• 8–12 years of civil engineering experience with at least 5 years in dam, reservoir, or hydropower projects.
• Proven dredging experience and familiarity with multiple dredging methods.
• Experience with environmental compliance, large infrastructure, and reservoir rehabilitation.
• Knowledge of FIDIC contracts, ability to read drawings and dredging plans.
• Experience on international donor-funded projects; strong MS Office and reporting skills.
• Understanding of sediment transport, reservoir siltation, and project scheduling basics.

• Proven experience in dredging operations (reservoir desiltation, intake clearing, river training works)
• Experience in quantity verification and contractor billing support
• Experience working with environmental compliance requirements
• Experience in large infrastructure or water-retaining structures
• Strong knowledge of dredging methodologies (cutter suction, clamshell, backhoe dredging)
• Experience in large-scale reservoir rehabilitation projects
• Understanding of sediment transport and reservoir siltation
• Familiarity with hydrographic survey software
• Knowledge of dam safety and intake protection requirements
