Job summary

SMEC is seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist to review and validate geological data, assess rock mass quality and geological hazards, and develop models to support major civil projects. The role requires a minimum of 10 years in engineering geology, with at least 5 years in dams, hydropower, pumped storage or tunneling, plus experience in field supervision and investigations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in engineering geology.
At least 5 years in dams, hydropower, pumped storage, tunneling, or major underground infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Review and validate geological mapping, borehole logs, and subsurface data.
Assess rock mass quality, structural geology, faults, fractures, and discontinuities.
Develop geological models to support design and construction activities.
Identify geological hazards including landslides, slope instability, erosion, seepage, and seismic risks.
Monitor geological conditions during construction and participate in dam safety reviews.
