Job summary

BairesDev is hiring a Staff Engineer specialized in distributed systems for a 100% remote role. You will shape core backend infrastructure, drive migrations, and mentor teams across the globe to deliver scalable solutions.

We expect deep expertise in replication, consensus (Raft or Paxos), and performance tuning in Go/Java/Rust, plus strong English communication to collaborate with top-tier clients and a diverse, world-class engineering community.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on distributed systems.
• Expertise in distributed systems theory, including Raft or Paxos.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Rust.
• Strong understanding of replication, partitioning and fault tolerance.
• Excellent communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement distributed services focused on consensus, replication, and fault tolerance.
• Lead technical strategy for complex migrations and evolution of core backend infrastructure.
• Analyze and optimize system performance across compute, storage, and network to reduce waste.
• Define standards for operational excellence, including consistency models and durability.
• Resolve high-impact engineering challenges spanning multiple services to ensure system correctness.
• Mentor engineering teams and guide distributed architecture and system design.
