Job summary

Emapta seeks an experienced Senior Data Engineer to build governed Snowflake pipelines across sales, inventory, and finance, enabling reporting-ready models and enterprise data ownership. You will shape data architecture while collaborating with global teams, in a role designed for top talent seeking balance, impact, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of data engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on expertise in Snowflake architecture, security, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and ELT/ETL pipeline development.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional data modeling, Kimball methodology, and star-schema design.
• Experience integrating data from ERP and retail systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, POS, inventory).
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory for extracting source data into cloud data platforms.
• Demonstrated capability in data reconciliation and validation frameworks.
• Familiarity with Power BI and reporting-ready data models.
• Excellent analytical thinking, business acumen, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines ingesting data from ERP/retail sources into Snowflake.
• Extend and optimize the bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture.
• Develop dimensional models using Kimball star-schema across layers.
• Translate business rules into reusable gold-layer objects and measures.
• Lead data reconciliation and validation testing for source-to-Snowflake data.
• Administer Snowflake with RBAC, security, cost management, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with Power BI to deliver clean gold-layer datasets.
• Create base measures and flags in Snowflake for downstream calculations in Power BI.
• Establish engineering standards, version-control, and documentation for pipelines.
• Replace ad hoc vendor processes with governed engineering practices.
• Support transition of platform work from external vendors to internal ownership.
• Transfer knowledge to strengthen long-term internal capabilities.

Qualifications

Essential

• 3-5 years of data engineering experience, including proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer in an enterprise environment
• Hands‑on expertise in Snowflake architecture, security, performance optimization, and cost management
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and ELT/ETL pipeline development
• Strong knowledge of dimensional data modeling, Kimball methodology, and star-schema design
• Practical experience integrating data from ERP and retail systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365, point-of-sale, and inventory platforms
• Working knowledge of Azure data services, particularly Azure Data Factory, for extracting source data into cloud data platforms
• Demonstrated capability in building and maintaining data reconciliation and validation frameworks
• Familiarity with Power BI and the development of reporting‑ready data models
• Excellent analytical thinking, business acumen, and problem‑solving abilities
• Effective communication, stakeholder management, and relationship‑building skills
• Strong ownership, accountability, adaptability, and knowledge‑sharing capabilities

Desirable

• Exposure to Data Vault modeling and migrations from Data Vault to Kimball architectures
• Background in collaborating with outsourced or consulting teams and transitioning platform responsibilities in‑house
• Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for pipeline orchestration
• Previous experience in multi‑site retail or fast‑moving consumer goods environments
• Familiarity with the Kimball Toolkit and governed data‑integration practices

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines that ingest data from Microsoft Dynamics 365, RCS, SYMPAC, and IRMS into Snowflake.
• Extend the platform's established bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture.
• Develop and maintain dimensional data models using Kimball star‑schema methodology across the silver and gold layers.
• Translate business rules across inventory, sales, and finance into reusable gold‑layer objects, measures, and flags.
• Lead data reconciliation and validation testing between source systems and Snowflake to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
• Administer the Snowflake environment, including provisioning, role‑based access control, security, cost management, and performance optimization.
• Partner with Power BI and Analytics teams to deliver clean, reporting‑ready gold‑layer datasets.
• Engineer base measures and flags in Snowflake while enabling ratio and percentage calculations downstream in Power BI.
• Establish consistent engineering standards, version‑control practices, and documentation for data pipelines and models.
• Replace ad hoc vendor delivery processes with repeatable and governed engineering practices.
• Support the transition of in‑progress platform work from Billigence and Fusion5 to internal ownership.
• Transfer technical knowledge and documentation to strengthen long‑term internal platform capabilities.
