First Focus AU is seeking a Senior Data & Business Intelligence Specialist to transform spreadsheets, APIs, and business requests into reliable data solutions. You will partner with stakeholders to shape enterprise data platforms spanning warehousing, lakehouse design, pipelines, reporting, governance, and integrations.

You will work with modern tools, contribute to architecture decisions, and thrive in an ownership-focused team that values clear problem-solving and practical results.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience delivering enterprise data solutions.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and BI-focused modelling.
• Develop batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience with APIs to ingest and integrate data.
• Familiarity with governance, security, and data quality.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, build, and maintain modern enterprise data warehouses and lakehouse solutions
• Develop scalable, reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Build reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions that business teams actually want to use
• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements
• Design robust data models that support operational and strategic decision-making
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and performance across data platforms
• Develop integrations between business systems and data platforms
• Contribute to application development projects using modern web frameworks or low-code platforms
• Participate in solution design, code reviews, and Agile delivery practices
• Continuously improve data architecture, automation, and reporting capabilities

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer, Data Specialist, or Data Platform Engineer delivering enterprise data solutions
• Advanced Python, SQL, and PySpark skills
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, or Snowflake
• Strong experience in data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and BI-focused data modelling
• Hands-on experience building batch and streaming data pipelines
• Good understanding of medallion architectures, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers
• Experience working with external APIs to ingest, synchronise, and integrate data
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, access controls, compliance, and quality management
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Azure AI Foundry
• Experience with cloud-native data solutions, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
• Experience building or supporting Power BI semantic models and reporting solutions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Experience working in Agile teams and in consulting or client-facing environments

Nice to have

• Domain experience in finance, ERP, SAP, or other complex business systems
• Experience with AWS or another cloud platform alongside Azure
• Experience building AI-enabled applications, including vector databases, RAG, and AI agents
• Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems via APIs, Microsoft Teams, or other business platforms
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform
• Experience developing business applications using .NET/C#, Python, Laravel, or similar modern frameworks
