Job summary

First Focus is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Manila team, supporting a portfolio of US-based clients. You’ll work across Microsoft environments, cloud platforms and enterprise infrastructure to solve meaningful technical challenges that keep every day interesting.

Your regular schedule aligns with Pacific Standard Time hours and includes a quarterly on-call rotation. The role offers hybrid work, opportunities to mentor others, and growth within a supportive MSP culture.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of Systems Engineering experience, ideally in an MSP.
• Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server.
• Advanced knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V.
• Excellent networking including firewalls, DNS and VPNs.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, MS-102) highly regarded.
• Mentoring and customer-focused communication.

Responsibilities

• Resolve advanced infrastructure, cloud and networking issues across multiple client environments.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Azure platforms.
• Troubleshoot VMware, Hyper-V and virtualised infrastructure.
• Support enterprise networking including firewalls, routing, switching, VPNs and DNS.
• Manage Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and identity services.
• Support Azure IaaS services including storage, backups, virtual desktops and application gateways.
• Develop PowerShell automation and improve operational efficiency.
• Act as a senior escalation point for technical teams and mentor Systems Administrators.
• Participate in technical consultations with clients and internal stakeholders.

First Focus is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Manila team, supporting a portfolio of US-based clients. You'll work across diverse Microsoft environments, cloud platforms and enterprise infrastructure, solving meaningful technical challenges that keep every day interesting.

Your regular schedule is Monday to Friday, supporting our US clients during Pacific Standard Time business hours. You'll also participate in a shared on-call rotation for one week approximately every three months, because even the best infrastructure occasionally likes to keep life interesting.

What you'll be doing

• Assist with Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention, eDiscovery and Zero Trust initiatives
• Develop PowerShell automation and improve operational efficiencyAct as a senior escalation point for technical teams and mentor Systems Administrators
• Participate in technical consultations with clients, Solution Architects and internal stakeholders
• Create technical documentation, SOPs and knowledge base articles
• Continuously improve processes, automation and service delivery across the business

Requirements

What we're looking for

• Around 5 to 7 years of Systems Engineering experience, ideally within an MSP environment
• Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server
• Advanced knowledge of VMware and/or Hyper-V
• Excellent networking knowledge covering firewalls, switching, routing, DNS and VPNs
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and identity management
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
• Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam, Datto or similar
• A genuine passion for mentoring others and sharing technical knowledge
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-first mindset
• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, MS-102 or similar are highly regarded
