Optum is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to shape and deliver high-quality internal and external communications across channels. You will craft content, support change initiatives, and manage PR activities to reinforce our brand and engage stakeholders.

You’ll work closely with executives, maintain policies, review media, and ensure messaging consistency while meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic, hybrid environment.

We’re looking for a talented Senior Communications Specialist to shape and deliver high‑quality internal and external communications that support our brand, our people, and our stakeholders.

In this role, you will develop communication strategies, craft engaging content, support change initiatives, and manage public relations activities. You’ll also help maintain our communication policies, review company media, and ensure consistent, accurate messaging across all channels.

Responsibilities

• Create clear, compelling written content for internal and external audiences
• Coordinate communication plans, including those tied to change management
• Maintain and update communication policies, procedures, and company media (including websites)
• Manage public relations activities, including shareholder and public information services
• Work closely with executives and key stakeholders to understand needs and deliver effective messaging
• Edit, proofread, and refine content to ensure accuracy and readability
• Juggle multiple projects in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment
• Collaborate with team members and provide constructive feedback

Qualifications:

• 5+ years’ experience in journalism, writing, or editing
• Exceptional writing skills with a knack for clarity and accuracy
• Strong editing and proofreading abilities
• Understanding of readability and how to tailor content to different audiences
• Experience supporting change management communications
• Ability to thrive under tight deadlines
• Confident verbal communication and stakeholder‑management skills

• Knowledge of AP Style
• Creativity and experience in creative writing
