Job summary

FIS is seeking a Professional Services Engineer (Conversions Programmer) in Manila to support financial institution conversions to IBS modules. You will work with analysts and clients to translate requirements into conversion programs, handle data formats, and test highly customized code.

The role involves weekend work and on-call support periodically. The IBS Implementation Team is a cross-functional group enabling successful conversion projects of varying sizes and complexity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of structured COBOL programming techniques with general understanding of IMS and/or DB2 DBMS
• Strong understanding of working with sequential data files, including packed numeric, binary, EBCDIC, ASCII and FTP
• Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating environment, including JCL, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, SYNCSORT, Expediter, Insync and VISION:Results (DYL280)
• Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills
• Knowledge of FIS products and services, specifically IBS, is preferred but not required
• Exposure to banking processes and workflows, with knowledge of deposit applications considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Analyze conversion data files for format, content and structure
• Analyze and translate business requirements into specialized conversion programs
• Code, test and debug highly customized conversion programs
• Evaluate conversion exceptions and errors for possible solutions
• Assist in balancing and verification of conversion projects
• Demonstrate understanding of FIS systems and the financial services industry
• Suggest technical alternatives and improve/streamline processes and systems
• Complete project assignments and special projects commensurate with job expectations
• Provide input into unique client requests, including solution design and project estimates
• May provide leadership and/or guidance to other technical professionals
