Job summary

FIS Global is seeking a Professional Services Engineer (Conversions Programmer) in Manila. You will support financial institution conversions to the IBS platform, translating requirements into specialized conversion programs while collaborating with analysts and clients.

The role entails weekend work (about 6-8 weekends per year) and weekly on-call support (3-4 weeks per year). The IBS Implementation Team is a cross-functional group that guides clients through conversion activities of varying

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of structured COBOL programming techniques with general understanding of IMS and/or DB2 DBMS
• Strong understanding of working with sequential data files, including packed numeric, binary, EBCDIC, ASCII and FTP
• Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating environment, including JCL, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, SYNCSORT, Expediter, Insync and VISION:Results (DYL280)
• Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills
• Knowledge of FIS' products and services, specifically with Integrated Banking Systems (IBS) is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Analyze conversion data files for format, content and structure
• Translate business requirements into conversion programs
• Code, test and debug custom conversion programs
• Evaluate conversion exceptions and errors for solutions
• Assist in balancing and verification of conversion projects
• Demonstrate understanding of FIS systems and the financial services industry
• Suggest technical alternatives to streamline processes
• Complete project assignments and special projects
• Provide input into client requests, including solution design and estimates
• May provide leadership and/or guidance to other technical professionals
