Job summary

PNI Business Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst to analyze US non-life insurance data and prepare information for CAT modeling.

You will assess property exposure and review modeling results and portfolio reports while ensuring data quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Insurance, Engineering, Geography, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in US Non-Life Insurance; CAT modeling exposure.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and INDEX-MATCH.
  • Solid understanding of US geography and exposure to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze US non-life insurance data, including property, policy, coverage, and location information.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accurate addresses, ZIP codes, property details, and geographic information.
  • Prepare insurance data for CAT Modeling.
  • Analyze property exposure to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.
  • Identify risk concentrations and potential losses across different US states and locations.
  • Review CAT modeling results and prepare risk, exposure, and portfolio reports.
  • Perform data quality checks and investigate data issues.
  • Work with large datasets to identify trends, risks, and data errors.
  • Coordinate with clients, underwriters, and internal teams to resolve data and technical issues.
  • Help improve processes through automation, documentation, and other efficiency improvements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst will analyze US non-life insurance data, perform data cleansing and validation, prepare information for CAT modeling, assess property exposure, and review modeling results and portfolio reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze US non-life insurance data, including property, policy, coverage, and location information.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accurate addresses, ZIP codes, property details, and geographic information.
  • Prepare insurance data for Catastrophe (CAT) Modeling.
  • Analyze property exposure to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.
  • Identify risk concentrations and potential losses across different US states and locations.
  • Review CAT modeling results and prepare risk, exposure, and portfolio reports.
  • Perform data quality checks and investigate data issues.
  • Work with large datasets to identify trends, risks, and data errors.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in US Non-Life Insurance.
  • Experience in CAT Modeling, Exposure Management, Insurance Risk Analysis, Underwriting, or Insurance Data Analysis.
  • Strong understanding of US geography.
  • Knowledge of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.
  • Experience handling insurance policy, property, coverage, and location data.
  • Experience with data cleansing, data validation, geocoding, and checking data accuracy.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and INDEX-MATCH.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Insurance, Engineering, Geography, Data Analytics, or a related field.
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with RMS, AIR/Touchstone, Verisk, or similar CAT modeling software.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or VBA.
