PNI Business Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Catastrophe Modeling Analyst to analyze US non-life insurance data, prepare data for CAT modeling, and assess property exposure to natural disasters.

You will identify risk concentrations and support risk and portfolio reporting. Responsibilities include cleaning and validating addresses, ZIP codes, and location data, coordinating with clients and underwriters, and driving process improvements through automation and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must have 1–2 years of experience in US Non-Life Insurance (Property, Commercial, Homeowners).
  • Experience in CAT Modeling, Exposure Management, or Insurance Data Analysis.
  • Strong understanding of US geography (states, cities, ZIP codes, properties).
  • Knowledge of natural disaster risks (hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, severe storms).
  • Experience handling policy, property, coverage, and location data.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills with Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and INDEX-MATCH.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data quality checks and investigate data issues.
  • Work with large datasets to identify trends, risks, and data errors.
  • Coordinate with clients, underwriters, and internal teams to resolve data issues.
  • Help improve processes through automation and documentation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Catastrophe Modeling Analyst will analyze US non-life insurance data, prepare data for CAT modeling, assess property exposure to natural disasters, identify risk concentrations, and support risk and portfolio reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze US non-life insurance data, including property, policy, coverage, and location information.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accurate addresses, ZIP codes, property details, and geographic information.
  • Prepare insurance data for Catastrophe (CAT) Modeling.
  • Analyze property exposure to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.
  • Identify risk concentrations and potential losses across different US states and locations.
  • Review CAT modeling results and prepare risk, exposure, and portfolio reports.
  • Perform data quality checks and investigate data issues.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in US Non-Life Insurance, including Property, Commercial Insurance, Homeowners, etc.
  • Experience in CAT Modeling, Exposure Management, Insurance Risk Analysis, Underwriting, or Insurance Data Analysis.
  • Strong understanding of US geography, including states, cities, ZIP codes, addresses, and property locations.
  • Knowledge of natural disaster risks such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, and severe storms.
  • Experience handling insurance policy, property, coverage, and location data.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Insurance, Engineering, Geography, Data Analytics, or a related field.
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with RMS, AIR/Touchstone, Verisk, or similar CAT modeling software.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or VBA.
