Job summary

Cloudstaff Philippines Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a focused engineering team building production-grade platforms that connect IoT hardware with enterprise applications.

You will work hands-on in backend development, distributed systems, integrations, and technical architecture, designing scalable services with Node.js/TypeScript, implementing event-driven patterns, and ensuring reliability through tests and CI/CD. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Senior-level commercial software engineering experience
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js + TypeScript
• Hands-on Docker/container experience
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, Pulsar, Kinesis, or similar messaging platforms
• Strong understanding of distributed/event-driven systems
• Experience designing REST APIs and system integrations
• Good knowledge of Linux, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
• Experience taking software through production, releases, upgrades, and ongoing support
• Comfortable contributing to architecture discussions and technical decisions
• Strong English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
• Design and support event-driven systems using Kafka or similar technologies
• Develop APIs and integrations with enterprise systems
• Build and troubleshoot containerised applications using Docker
• Design for reliability including retries, idempotency, message ordering, and failure recovery
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decisions
• Write automated unit and integration tests
• Review code and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
• Use AI development tools to improve coding, testing, documentation, and workflows
