Job summary

Maya is seeking a Senior Back-end Software Engineer for Risk Tech (Fraud & AML) in Manila. You will own backend projects end-to-end, design scalable services, and work across teams to implement secure risk solutions. The role emphasizes architecture, quality, and collaboration in an Agile environment.

You will contribute to designing reusable APIs, leading production releases, and helping junior engineers grow, while aligning with Risk Tech's goals and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6–10+ years building large-scale internet services, platforms, or backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java and/or Python on AWS (or comparable cloud).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Strong experience designing, building, and using RESTful APIs / backend services at scale.
• Comfortable with automated testing (JUnit, pytest, Jest, Mocha) and code reviews.
• Strong experience with Git-based workflows (GitLab/GitHub) and CI/CD.
• Experience with containers (Docker) and deploying/operating services in the cloud.
• Plus: caching (Redis/Memcached), event-driven architectures, observability (metrics/logs/traces).
• Plus: Fraud, AML, or risk experience in banking/fintech.

Responsibilities

• Own backend projects from planning to production, not just writing code.
• Translate Risk needs into clear technical design and delivery plan.
• Collaborate with frontend, other backend teams, QA, and platform teams to resolve dependencies.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and shape Fraud & AML capabilities.
• Build scalable, reliable services that securely handle risk data.
• Develop reusable APIs/services for other teams and partners; maintain quality and performance.
• Participate in code reviews and production releases; mentor junior engineers.
• Document best practices and share knowledge with the Risk Tech team.
• Coordinate with QA on testing scope and release readiness for owned projects.
• Support hiring and team activities as a senior individual contributor.
