Job summary

QBE Group Shared Services Centre seeks an Automation Engineer to help develop and implement automation solutions using RPA tools such as UiPath, Power Automate, and other platforms. You will work with business stakeholders to translate needs into scalable automation designs and ensure governance and agile practices are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in IT, Software Eng., or related field.
• 3+ years work experience in automation or RPA is preferred.
• Experience with multiple RPA platforms and programming languages is advantageous.

Primary Details

Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThe purpose of this role is to assist in developing and implementing automation solutions using various tools such as robotics, RPA, and Power Automate, following an Automation Governance and Delivery model. The role involves helping in the identification and building of automation capabilities to eliminate high-touch, repetitive, and non-value added tasks through third‑party automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders and other functions to understand business needs and translate them into technical designs.
• Help Build automation solutions using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies and other relevant programming languages.
• Assist in the Implementation and in maintaining process engineering and agile best practices across the delivery model.
• Identify and advocate for appropriate ways to implement end-user requirements to achieve business goals.
• Define reusable design patterns that are robust, flexible, and extensible.
• Engage in solution discussions together with the manager and/or peers and produce high-fidelity prototypes for feedback from senior stakeholders.
• Identify and size automation opportunities to ensure a positive ROI.
• Help drive financial and customer benefits through automated technologies.
• Develop automated opportunities to meet business demand and coding standards.
• Manage a team of developers, shape the future of the Robotics, Automation & AI journey, and ensure deliverables meet business needs.

Work Experience

Necessary Work Experience includes:

• Some relevant work experience.

Preferred Work Experience includes:

• Experience in Alteryx or Power Automate platform (at least 3 years of experience)
• Experience in Pega Robotics, UiPath, or any RPA tool (UiPath, PEGA, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism).
• Professional experience in programming languages such as .NET, Python, VBA, SharePoint Development, SQL, and relational databases, as well as application development.
• Involvement in multiple automation initiatives that delivered tangible benefits.
• Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance.
• Working experience in a consulting or shared services environment.
• Exposure to previous automation tools.
• Senior Engineer should have moderate experience, including team management.

Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications include:

• Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications include:

• Postgraduate degree in IT or Software Engineering.

Travel Frequency

Occasional (approximately 5-10 trips annually)

Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer.
