Job summary

QBE Insurance is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to help design, develop, and implement automation solutions using RPA tools and programming languages. The role emphasizes delivering tangible business value through scalable automation across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, define robust design patterns, and guide a team of developers to advance the Robotics, Automation & AI journey while ensuring alignment with governance and delivery practices.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Postgraduate degree in IT or Software Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in multiple automation initiatives that delivered tangible benefits.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders and translate needs into technical designs.
• Help Build automation solutions using RPA technologies and other programming languages.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of process engineering and agile best practices.

Primary Details

Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThe purpose of this role is to assist in developing and implementing automation solutions using various tools such as robotics, RPA, and Power Automate, following an Automation Governance and Delivery model. The role involves helping in the identification and building of automation capabilities to eliminate high-touch, repetitive, and non-value added tasks through third-party automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders and other functions to understand business needs and translate them into technical designs.
• Help Build automation solutions using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies and other relevant programming languages.
• Assist in the Implementation and in maintaining process engineering and agile best practices across the delivery model.
• Identify and advocate for appropriate ways to implement end-user requirements to achieve business goals.
• Define reusable design patterns that are robust, flexible, and extensible.
• Engage in solution discussions together with the manager and/or peers and produce high-fidelity prototypes for feedback from senior stakeholders.

• Develop automated opportunities to meet business demand and coding standards.

Work Experience

Necessary Work Experience includes

• Some relevant work experience.

Preferred Work Experience includes

• Experience in Pega Robotics, UiPath, or any RPA tool (UiPath, PEGA, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism).
• Professional experience in programming languages such as .NET, Python, VBA, SharePoint Development, SQL, and relational databases, as well as application development.
• Involvement in multiple automation initiatives that delivered tangible benefits.
• Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance.
• Working experience in a consulting or shared services environment.
• Exposure to previous automation tools.
• Senior Engineer should have moderate experience, including team management.

Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications include

• Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications include

• Postgraduate degree in IT or Software Engineering.

Travel Frequency

Occasional (approximately 5-10 trips annually)
