Job summary

VML, part of WPP, is a leading creative company delivering human-first brand experiences for blue-chip partners. This Senior Art Director role leads original design from concept through completion, guiding teams and setting visual direction across media while maintaining strategic business intent.

The role requires at least 5 years of Senior Art Director experience, mastery of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, plus a strong portfolio and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as Senior Art Director in multimedia/advertising/design studio.
• Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Ability to direct creative teams and generate high-quality work.
• Excellent communication of creative concepts with clarity and confidence.
• Strong understanding of information design and typography for web and print.

• Leads and sets standards with multiple approaches in multivariate/optimization efforts and generates original visual directions for non-page based media.
• Master of layout, typography, illustration, photography, and sets standards for new creative arenas. Proficient with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

• Collaborates with Associate Creative Directors and Creative Directors to maximize concept effectiveness.
• Team player willing to do whatever it takes to improve the work.

What you’ll do

• Creates and leads original designs from concepts, able to direct those efforts in others through completion

• Leads and sets standards with multiple approaches in multivariate/optimization efforts and generates original visual directions for non-page based media

• Master of layout, typography, illustration, photography, and sets standards for new creative arenas as they emerge demonstrated expertise with design programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign

• Understands the strategic business intent of specific projects and audience/customer goals.

• Work with Associate Creative Director(s) and Creative Director(s) to ensure maximum effectiveness of various concepts.

• Team player willing to do whatever it takes to make the work better

• Able to support pitches and sales efforts

Who you are

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as professional Senior Art Director in multimedia agency, advertising agency, or design studio, with extremely strong design portfolio.

• Thorough knowledge of design software such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign

• Ability to not only direct creative teams but physically generate amazing work.

• Proven ability to communicate creative solutions with confidence, ease and clarity.

• Strong understanding of information design and the topology of information for the web.

• Full understanding of browser/platform constraints as they affect online design and professional understanding of typography in both print and screen media
