As a Senior BI Architect, you will play a key role in supporting our client’s transformation mission, focused on building, modernizing, and future-proofing data and business intelligence capabilities for professional and DIY builders in the Nordic region.
This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring deep expertise in enterprise data architecture, modern BI platforms, data warehousing, and information management. You will be responsible for shaping the future mode of operation for Data & Business Intelligence by defining the target architecture, guiding modernization efforts, and ensuring that our data platform evolves from a fragmented and legacy-based setup into a simplified, scalable, and business-enabling ecosystem.
You are expected to lead the architectural direction for the BI and data landscape, including consolidation of systems, migration away from legacy and proprietary solutions, and the design of a modern enterprise data warehouse supported by robust master data services and scalable integration patterns. At the same time, you will help ensure that the organization’s data foundation is ready to enable and accelerate the AI journey over time. While the team’s primary focus remains Data and Business Intelligence, the architecture and data services you define must also support future AI use cases and collaboration with AI-focused teams.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, developers, and operational teams to translate business ambitions into pragmatic, sustainable, and high-quality solutions. Your work will span all phases of the solution lifecycle — from advisory and analysis to architecture, implementation guidance, governance, and continuous evolution.
You are a strong communicator with the ability to articulate complex technical topics at different levels of the organization. You combine strategic thinking with execution power, take ownership naturally, and thrive in environments where transformation, modernization, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.
The responsibilities for the position are:
- Define and drive the architectural vision for the Data & Business Intelligence landscape in alignment with the client’s transformation strategy and future business needs.
- Design the Future Mode of Operation (FMO) for BI and data services, including target architecture, governance principles, operating model, and roadmap for modernization.
- Contribute to prioritization, estimates, and recommendations for change requests, modernization initiatives, and defect resolution from an architectural perspective.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in tools, platforms, processes, and ways of working within Data & BI.
- Ensure the BI and data architecture supports business enablement, making data more accessible, reliable, and actionable for the wider organization.
- Tool Evaluation & Selection: Guide leadership in choosing BI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau), cloud storage, and visualization tools.
- Data Governance & Security: Set up infrastructure security, governance for data ownership, access controls, and naming conventions to ensure consistency and trust across departments.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, and mentor data engineers, developers, and analysts to follow best practices.
Preferred requirements for the position are:
- A deep understanding of end-to-end BI and data architecture, including data acquisition, transformation, storage, semantic modeling, analytics, visualization, governance, and operationalization.
- 7-10 years of experience working with Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, Analytics, or Enterprise Data Platform initiatives, including several years in a senior architectural or lead role.
- Strong experience in enterprise data warehouse architecture, including designing scalable and maintainable solutions across multiple source systems and business domains.
- Solid practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including architecture, implementation patterns, governance, and data lifecycle design.
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture and how to apply it in enterprise-scale BI and data platform implementations.
- Experience with Power BI architecture and administration, including semantic model design, security, governance, scalability, and self-service enablement.
- Strong data modeling experience, including dimensional modeling, semantic layer design, and experience with SSAS (tabular and/or multidimensional); knowledge of DAX and/or MDX is highly valued.
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience with data integration and transformation technologies such as SQL Server, SSIS, APIs, flat files, and related tooling.
- Experience with cloud data services such as Azure SQL DB/DW, Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, and related Azure data capabilities is a clear advantage.
- Experience defining or supporting master data management / master data services, data quality principles, and reusable enterprise data assets is an advantage.
- Understanding of how modern data platforms can enable AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics, including the importance of data quality, metadata, lineage, accessibility, and governance.
- Experience working in agile product or project teams, while also being able to think beyond immediate delivery needs toward long-term architectural sustainability.
- Practical experience with offshoring and cross-border collaboration, including working effectively in multicultural environments and resolving issues across teams and stakeholders.
- Strong consultancy and advisory skills, with the ability to guide decision-making based on business value, cost/benefit, technical feasibility, and risk.
- Great understanding of version control tools like Git/ Github
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization — from technical specialists to senior leadership.
- Analytical, proactive, pragmatic, and self-driven, with a strong sense of ownership and a positive, collaborative approach.
