Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Open Finance Europe – Connectivity team. You will design, build, and operate scalable API integrations with financial institutions across Europe, delivering secure, reliable backend services.

You’ll own components from design through production, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, and SRE to improve observability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on cloud-based, distributed backend systems experience.
• API development, scalability, and production support.
• Structured, pragmatic problem-solving approach.
• Strong SDLC, testing practices, and secure coding knowledge.
• Proven ability to own and deliver components independently.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support scalable APIs and backend services.
• Contribute to system design decisions with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.
• Deliver high-quality, production-ready code across the full software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices and standards.
