Job summary

Cobre is building enterprise payments infrastructure across Latin America, and is seeking a senior backend engineer to own AI-enabled capabilities from concept to production within a compliant flow. You will design, implement, and measure end-to-end features, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and governance.

You will mentor peers, collaborate with compliance analysts, and help shape the architecture for an AI-native platform that processes money movements securely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production backend services.
• Depth in at least one back-end focused language (Go preferred).
• Production experience with LLM-backed features, structured output, and evaluation.
• Cloud-native AWS development (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS).
• Professional fluency in Spanish and working English.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end — from problem framing to API design, rollout, and metrics.
• Design for the model being wrong — include human-in-the-loop where needed.
• Define correctness with gold datasets and production evaluation.
• Build deterministic scaffolding for nondeterministic parts — event-driven pipelines and audit trails.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and raise the bar on the team.
