Job summary

Axos Bank seeks a Senior AI Engineer to own critical AI initiatives across business domains, designing and deploying sophisticated AI agents and mentoring junior engineers. You’ll drive AI-native practices, scale enterprise AI, and shape the bank's AI strategy.

You will work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and enterprise systems, owning outcomes and delivering measurable business impact through governance, reliability, and innovation.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of professional software/AI engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and deployment of AI agents for business domains; own architecture and quality.
• Develop prompts and system designs; establish best practices for prompt engineering.
• Architect integrations between AI systems and internal platforms; lead reviews.
• Implement MCP servers; design patterns for enterprise data integration.
• Own creation and maintenance of AI skills and plugins; promote adoption.
• Analyze AI model outputs; drive iterative improvements to prompts and designs.
• Design testing strategies for AI-generated code and docs; ensure quality.
• Establish KPIs and ROI metrics; report business impact to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with software teams to identify automation and scalable workflows.
• Lead PoC and prototype work to validate AI approaches for enterprise use.
• Mentor junior engineers on AI best practices and prompt engineering.
