Job summary

IAN Smart Energy Corp in Metro Manila seeks a Senior Accounting professional to lead financial reporting and accounting operations. You will oversee the general ledger, manage month-end close, and provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making.

The role requires a CPA or equivalent, a Bachelor in Accounting/Finance, and 10+ years of post-qualification experience. Location is South Caloocan; relocation to sister company may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance is required.
• CPA qualification or membership with a recognized accounting body is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepare and review financial statements in line with accounting standards and regulations.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Conduct reconciliations and investigate discrepancies; implement corrective actions.
• Prepare variance analyses and reports for management review.
• Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff; develop their skills.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhance accounting controls.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accounting professional to join our team on a full-time basis in South Caloocan, Metro Manila. This is a strategic position within our finance department, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust accounting practices, and providing valuable financial insights to support business decision-making. As a Senior Accounting professional, you will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting operations and reporting functions, directly contributing to the company's financial health and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations
• Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions
• Conduct financial reconciliations and investigations of discrepancies, implementing corrective measures as necessary
• Coordinate the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes
• Ensure compliance with tax obligations and regulatory requirements relevant to the energy sector
• Prepare variance analyses and financial reports for management review and strategic planning
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend enhancements to accounting systems and controls

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Professional accounting qualification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or membership with a recognized accounting body is highly desirable
• Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting roles
• Demonstrated expertise in general accounting practices, financial statement preparation and analysis
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and principles relevant to the Philippines and international contexts
• Proficiency with accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing accounting teams
• Experience in the energy sector or utilities industry is preferred
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and tax implications within the energy industry would be advantageous
