Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting.

• Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with audits and tax filings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and postings.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff in accounting policies and procedures.
• Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and automate processes.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, and variance explanations for management.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and reporting standards.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to support engagements.

About the role

Golden Century Marketing is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This is a full-time position based in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. As Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insights that drive business decision‑making across the organisation. This position represents a key leadership opportunity within our accounting department, where you will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and contribute to the development of robust financial systems and controls.

Key responsibilities

1. Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations


2. Oversee and manage the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and the posting of transactions


3. Coordinate the month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring all accounts are properly reconciled and documented


4. Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting policies, procedures, and best practices


5. Maintain and improve internal accounting controls, identifying areas for process enhancement and automation


6. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments


7. Prepare financial reports, analyses, and variance explanations for management and stakeholders


8. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and financial reporting standards


9. Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to support audit engagements and tax filings


10. Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement

What we’re looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field


2. Minimum 2 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting roles


3. Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is preferred


4. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, or similar platforms is advantageous


5. In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)


6. Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and account management


7. Excellent understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and compliance requirements


8. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail


9. Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple priorities


10. Proven supervisory or mentoring experience is highly desirable


11. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to explain complex financial information clearly
