Job summary

Grieg Philippines Inc. is looking for 5 Second Engineers to join our fleet. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience on international trade vessels and a background in Open-Hatch General Cargo or Bulk Cargo Carrier Vessels.

The role involves ensuring safety and environmental compliance, conducting maintenance checks, and managing engine room operations. Ideal candidates are preferred to hold a valid US visa for global work assignments.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years experience as Second Engineer (or equivalent) on international trade.
• Preferably with valid US visa.

Responsibilities

• Support the vessel’s Safety, Security, and Quality Management System.
• Conduct toolbox meetings for maintenance tasks.
• Perform daily checks of mechanical, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems.
• Assist in bunkering operations and maintain cleanliness in the Engine Room.

Job description

We are looking for 5 Second Engineers to join our growing fleet!

Qualification:

• At least 3 years experience as SecondEngineer (or equivalent) on international trade.
• With experience on Open-Hatch General Cargo or Bulk Cargo Carrier Vessels fitted with Deck Cargo Crane (Slewing or Gantry crane type).
• Has a main engine experience on MAN B&W MC and MAN B&W ME (MAN ME - C experienced is an advantage).
• Preferably with valid US visa.

Job Description:

Main Duties

• Prioritize safety, security, and environmental compliance at all times.
• Support and uphold the vessel’s Safety, Security, and Quality Management System.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and provide clear briefings before all maintenance and repair tasks.
• Ensure Engine Room personnel use appropriate PPE, follow safe work practices, and maintain good housekeeping.
• Be sufficiently familiar with firefighting and lifesaving equipment to take charge of on-site emergency response.
• Maintain all machinery in accordance with the Company’s maintenance strategy and the Planned Maintenance System (AMOS).
• Carry out overhauls, repairs, and spare-parts management with approval from the Chief Engineer.
• Perform daily checks of mechanical, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems, including AC, provision cooling, temperature controllers, and filters.
• Supervise turbocharger cleaning and maintain Main Engine lubrication filters and hydraulic power packs.
• Assist in bunkering operations, including ordering, receiving, handling, and sampling of fuel and lubricating oil.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized Engine Room, addressing leaks and hazards promptly.
• Ensure compliance with MARPOL through proper bilge, garbage, and sewage handling.
• Oversee Oily Water Separator operation, incinerator use, and correct entries in the Oil Record Book.
• Supervise purifier operations for fuel oil and lubricating oil.
