Job summary

PHIVOLCS is seeking a Project Technical Assistant IV to perform seismic hazard analysis and collaborate on regional hazard mapping in support of earthquake risk assessments. The role involves fieldwork, data processing, and integration with PEML workflows, with relocation to Quezon City.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with 1–2 years in seismic hazard analysis and experience with GIS tools. Master’s degree preferred; willingness to relocate is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Seismology, Geophysics, Geology or related field.
• Master’s degree in Seismology/Geophysics with a focus on seismic hazard analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct seismic hazard analysis including GS, PGA, and earthquake intensity parameters.
• Collaborate with GIS specialists to develop regional seismic hazard maps for landslide assessments.
• Analyze wave propagation, site response using deterministic models (SEM, Newmark’s method).
• Process and interpret seismic data from fieldwork and external datasets.
