The Sales Training & Performance Lead is an individual contributor role responsible for elevating the selling capability and conversion performance of the outbound sales team.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience building and running sales training programs in a high-value outbound sales environment, and can equally operate as a disciplined project manager, a performance-focused coach, and a charismatic floor presence that energises the team.
Training Program Design & Delivery
Design, develop, and deliver structured onboarding programs for new sales hires, ensuring faster time-to-productivity.
Create and maintain training materials including call scripts, objection-handling guides, product knowledge resources, and selling frameworks.
Build and own a training calendar and delivery schedule; manage logistics end-to-end without being prompted.
Conduct regular upskilling and refresher sessions to keep all representatives current on products, pricing, promotions, and selling techniques.
Facilitate role-plays, mock calls, and scenario-based exercises to sharpen consultative selling skills and close rates.
Develop and run specialised programs to build subject matter experts (SMEs) within the sales team.
Recommend and implement tools (e.g., LMS, call recording platforms) to enhance training delivery, tracking, and reporting.
Sales Coaching & Performance Improvement
Listen to live and recorded outbound sales calls to assess selling technique, pitch delivery, objection handling, and closing effectiveness.
Provide regular one-on-one and small group coaching sessions with targeted, behaviour-specific feedback.
Identify underperforming representatives and build individualised improvement plans with clear milestones, timelines, and measurable outcomes — then hold representatives accountable to them.
Work with high-performing representatives to document and systematise best practices for replication across the team.
Drive urgency around performance gaps; elevate proactively where improvement plans are not on track.
Collaborate with the Quality Analyst to align coaching priorities with QA findings and compliance requirements.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
Analyse sales performance data — conversion rates, revenue per representative, average deal value — to identify trends, gaps, and training opportunities.
Produce regular training impact reports showing the correlation between training interventions and conversion rate movement.
Track new hire ramp-up time against benchmarks and continuously refine the onboarding program to accelerate productivity.
Report training outcomes and recommendations to the Sales Director on a regular cadence.
Team Culture & Influence
Serve as a motivating floor presence — capable of lifting team energy, reinforcing confidence, and maintaining momentum during challenging periods.
Champion a high-performance sales culture by modelling assertive, consultative, and professional selling behaviours.
Build trusted relationships with sales representatives and leadership to maximise coaching receptivity and engagement.
Lead team huddles, recognition moments, and group debrief sessions with energy and authority.
Evaluate and improve existing training materials and programs based on performance data and trainee feedback.
Stay current on industry best practices in sales training, adult learning methodologies, and outbound sales techniques.
Collaborate with the Sales Director and operations leadership to align training priorities with business objectives.
