Job Description

The Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and managing customer relationships, identifying and executing sales opportunities, and implementing effective sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets across equipment, products, and aftermarket services.

Business Growth & Development
  • Support Sandvik customers business by actively promoting and selling Sandvik Equipment products and services, with a view to expand sales, and to support Sandvik customer in as many businesses opportunities as possible.
  • Prepare quotations for small to medium expenditures and support tenders, long-term contracts, and product trials.
  • Develop customer relationships that ensure customers remain loyal to Sandvik’ brands.
  • Assess technical issues with all Sandvik products and prepare/submit quotations.
  • Builds strong working relationships with relevant customer personnel.
  • Travel to customer sites and partnering with customers to provide solutions.
  • Coordinate product trials and testing as required to further expand the business value of “Premium Product - Premium Service - Competitive Price”.
  • Maintains accurate customer records as prescribed by the Company.
  • Ensure all accounts are operating within Sandvik trading terms.
Technical Expertise
  • Assess technical issues on Sandvik equipment and applications. Prepare quotations for small to medium expenditures.
  • Support product trials, disseminate technical bulletins, provide feedback to product support teams, and assist customers with reliability and maintenance programs.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis and collaborate with Product Line Managers, Account Managers, and Aftermarket teams to deliver profitable growth.
  • Understand customer businesses, decision‑makers, and market dynamics.
  • Provide input to Product Line Managers to address product offerings.
  • Responsible for achievement of agreed targets.
  • Ensures accounts are following terms and conditions of sale.
  • Provide support and assistant following up outstanding debtors.
  • Play an active role in formulating budgets.
  • Achievement of customer revenue targets through SIP process.
  • Monitor and control costs in accordance with Company targets and policies.
  • Produce reports on customer and financial deliverables, including dashboards, data extraction, alerts, workflows and business strategy.
Customer Service
  • Liaises between customer and Sandvik on aftermarket issues to ensure all issues are settled in a timely manner.
  • Assists customer to identify training opportunities.
  • Predictive forecasting through analysing customer maintenance strategy and planning to ensure parts availability meets customer demand and expectation.
  • Emergency tools ordering assistance and maintenance planning and stock level facilitation.
  • Stays current with industry developments, competitive offerings and issues affecting sales and customers.
  • Understand product, series, functionality and application; provide feedback to product support, familiar with customer maintenance management processes and reliability programs.
  • Demonstrates passion to win by pursuing everything with energy drive and a need to finish. Shows resilience especially in the face of resistance and setbacks.
  • Initiates and develops relationships with influential decision‑makers and can cultivate multiple points of contact within both internal company and external customer environments.
  • Able to resolve conflicts/disputes and defuse even high‑tension situations comfortably with others in a responsible and constructive manner.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and the ability to handle stressful situations when times are tough.

Experience
  • Preferably 5 years of experience in sales, mining, construction, or engineering‑related industries. Exposure to mining or drilling applications, aftermarket services, contract management, and business development is advantageous.
