Job description

CASHIERING

• Accepts payments for customer’s purchases either in cash or charge


• Enters all codes of customer purchases in the POS machine


• Verifies credit cards and proof of identification


• Checks the authenticity of bills and gift checks


• Validates all necessary documents after receipt of payments from customers


• Bags purchased items in a presentable and cost-effective manner


• Obtains signature of store supervisor/manager on all canceled transaction


• Secures cash in drawers and other documents such as fully redeemed gift checks, tape receipts and charge slips


• Conducts daily cash count and prepares pre-commit at the end of the shift


• Turns over cash payments, gift checks and pre-commit to the store manager/supervisor at the end of the shift


• Ensures availability of loose change and related forms/documents in the counter

SALES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

• Ensures that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service


• Informs customers of ongoing promotions and marketing activities


• Suggests purchase of highlighted item for the day to customers


• Communicates customer requests to store manager


• Processes merchandise returns and exchanges

SECURITY AND HOUSEKEEPING

• Secures counter area and ensures that it is manned at all times


• Responsible for the proper care of POS machine


• Maintains orderly appearance of counter area and supplies stocked


• Any other tasks that may beassigned from time to time by the store manager
