Job summary

Hospitality Enterprise Resources Corporation seeks a seasoned Safety Professional to develop and enforce fire life safety standards across hotels and managed properties. You will audit, advise on corrective actions, and coordinate with engineers and contractors to maintain regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong knowledge of Building Code, OSH Standards, and Fire Code, plus ISO/OSHAS exposure. A leadership mindset and proactive safety culture are essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering course.
  • Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in hotel operations, construction, property management, manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Practitioner, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiar with the Building Code, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards, and Fire Code.
  • Exposure to ISO, OSHAS, Environmental, and other international standards.
  • Safety Officer 2 (SO2); Safety Officer 3 (SO3) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving safety standards and manuals, including the Fire Life Safety Manual and OSH Standards.
  • Updates and improves safety standards through new technologies, guest and user preferences, product and service updates, and site conditions.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of local and national codes to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Performs regular audits of property practices related to fire life and safety to ensure code compliance.
  • Coordinates with project teams, architects, engineers, and various officers to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Prepares inspection and audit reports and submits them to leadership.
  • Drafts and revises safety procedures and conducts safety trainings.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical Standards

Technical Standards
  • Assists in the development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of safety standards and manuals, including the Fire Life Safety Manual and Occupational Safety and Health Standards.

  • Updates and improves standards through the adoption of new technologies, techniques, guest and user preferences, product and service updates, and actual site conditions.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of local and national codes and regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Property Audits
  • Performs regular audits and reviews of property practices related to fire life and safety to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

  • Conducts follow-ups on audit findings that do not comply with standards and assists in recommending corrective actions and coordination efforts.

  • Monitors Fire Life and Safety-related permits.

Coordination and Meetings
  • Recommends ways to improve compliance.

  • Provides project teams with guidance on health and safety and confirms project site compliance with industry and local regulations.

  • Attends and coordinates activities related to project meetings, training sessions, design discussions, and other planning activities with CHI and hotel planning teams.

  • Discusses project progress and design compliance with architects and engineers.

  • Schedules and attends meetings with engineers and contractors of managed properties as needed.

  • Maintains constant coordination with Property Safety Officers, Fire Life Safety Managers, Chief Engineers, Security Managers, and payable PCOs.

Follow-Ups
  • Conducts regular follow-ups with managed properties to resolve safety issues in coordination with the Director/Assistant Director of Engineering.

  • Assists Safety Officers in overcoming obstacles and following up with contractors and suppliers whose delays affect service delivery or contractual obligations.

Project Inspection and Assessment
  • Visits properties and project sites upon instruction of the direct superior.

  • Makes recommendations based on required standards and hazard identification findings.

  • Follows up on punch list items and other comments for rectification.

  • Verifies contractors' actual work and observes safe work practices.

  • Ensures identified violations are immediately addressed in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.

Report Writing
  • Prepares inspection reports and submits them to the Director/Assistant Director of Engineering and General Managers.

  • Prepares audit reports.

  • Prepares correspondence and meeting minutes as needed.

  • Submits accomplishment reports to the immediate superior.

Drawing Review and Preparation
  • Reviews Fire Protection Construction and As-Built Drawings, as well as other trades where occupational safety is incorporated, and provides recommendations.

  • Prepares necessary drawings using available software or freehand, when applicable.

  • Revises drawings as necessary.

Strategic Planning
  • Contributes ideas and recommendations for future plans and strategies.

  • Participates in departmental brainstorming activities.

Safety and Loss Control
  • Serves as a member of the Loss Control and Safety Committee.

  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

  • Monitors contractor activities in the Head Office and managed properties to ensure safety compliance.

  • Conducts safety training programs.

  • Conducts safety audits for managed properties and the Head Office.

  • Develops emergency and safety procedures.

Environmental Awareness
  • Participates in activities that support environmental protection.

  • Develops, promotes, upholds, and applies environmentally friendly practices.

  • Contributes to initiatives that minimize wastage and resource depletion.

Leadership
  • Sets and maintains high standards and attention to detail.

  • Achieves assigned tasks according to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Guides and sets a positive example for colleagues.

  • Motivates team members.

  • Determines priorities, sets goals, and follows through on commitments.
