Job summary

ModnPods is seeking a Draftsperson to support design and delivery of modular projects. You will prepare precise technical drawings and plans, ensure compliance, and collaborate with design and installation teams to translate concepts into manufacturable documents.

Under supervision of the Lead Designer, you’ll revise drawings, maintain records, and help optimize processes for cost effectiveness while meeting project timelines.

Qualifications

• The Draftsperson supports the design and delivery of projects by preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings, documentation and plans.
• Works under the guidance of the Lead Designer to ensure plans are well-detailed, compliant, and cost-effective.
• Maintains up-to-date records of drawings and revisions and coordinates with teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical drawings and plans that reflect design concepts and client specifications for manufacturing and installation.
• Revise and update drawings based on feedback from the Senior Draftsperson, Lead Designer and Project Manager.
• Interpret site-specific factors to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Develop and refine building siting plans for modular units on sites, considering constraints.
• Prepare drawings, reports and documentation for review by Lead Designer/Senior Draftsperson to facilitate permits.
• Ensure timely delivery and adherence to project deadlines and quality standards.

Position Purpose

The Draftsperson supports the design and delivery of projects by preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings, documentation and plans. Working under the guidance of the Lead Designer, this role involves working closely with the design and installation teams to ensure that all plans are well-detailed, compliant, and cost-effective.

The Draftsperson is also responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the design are accurately represented and can be easily followed by the manufacturing and installation teams.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Operations Excellence

Produce detailed technical drawings and plans that accurately reflect the design concepts and client specifications and can be seamlessly translated into the manufacturing and installation processes.
Revise and update drawings based on feedback from the Senior Draftsperson, Lead Designer and Project Manager.

Key Relationships

• Work closely with the Senior Draftsperson and Lead Designer to interpret site-specific factors, such as environmental conditions and regulatory requirements to inform design decisions and ensure compliance.
• Develop and refine building siting plans, ensuring that modular units are appropriately positioned on building sites, taking into account site-specific requirements and constraints.
  Work closely with the design team and manufacturing team to ensure that plans are well-detailed and account for all aspects of the design concept, manufacturing feasibility, and compliance.
  Assist with the preparation of recommendations and solutions for presentation to Clients.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of modular building designs by identifying and presenting innovative construction methods that are cost-effective without compromising on quality or compliance to Lead Designer.
• Ensure all plans meet ModnPods' high standards for quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
  Assist with the coordination and preparation of technical information and documentation required for project delivery.
• Prepare necessary drawings, reports and supporting documents for review by Lead Designer/Senior Draftsperson to facilitate timely approval of building applications and permits.
• Contribute to the progress of applications and provide assistance when queries or requests for additional information occur.
  Ensure timely delivery and adherence to project deadlines and compliance standards.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all drawings and revisions, ensuring that all documentation is compliant with local and national regulations.
• Proactively seeks out new ways to improve design processes and reduce costs without sacrificing quality or compliance.
  Works effectively with the design, manufacturing, and installation teams to ensure that all stakeholders' needs are met.

• Exercise a duty of care to ensure actions don't negatively impact the health and/or safety of others or self in the workplace.
• Ensure that anything provided for health and safety is not wilfully or recklessly interfered with or misused.
• Ensure compliance with any of the company's WHS policies, procedures and any reasonable instruction given by the company.
• Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Environmental Management

• Exercise a duty of care to ensure actions don't negatively impact the environment.
