Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd in the Philippines is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant to support the accounting function while working from home.

You will manage daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, journal entries, and classifications in line with US GAAP and SAP, while ensuring timely month-end and year-end closings. The role requires 3+ years in public accounting or auditing, with knowledge in financial reporting and statutory accounting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of public auditing/accounting experience.
• Prior experience in insurance preferred.
• Understanding of applicable accounting rules and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and full accounting cycle.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily accounting operations including investment management, reconciliations, journal entries, and classifications per US GAAP and SAP.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
• Support audit requests by preparing schedules and required documentation.
• Review premium, claims, commission, and reinsurance transactions for proper accounting treatment.
• Monitor cash activity and assist with bank reconciliations.
• Support regulatory filings and compliance reporting as needed.
• Analyze variances and explain changes in financial results.
• Document internal accounting processes and controls and suggest improvements.
• Support analysis of financial data including written premiums, losses, investments, and reinsurance activity.
• Assist with reinsurance accounting processes and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and strong internal controls.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams, MGAs, and reinsurance partners.
