Job summary

Somewhere is seeking a Project Accountant with a construction focus (MEP/HVAC) to support a growing portfolio of active jobs. Location is remote (Philippines) with full-time hours and overlapping US hours preferred.

The role ensures accurate job costing, timely billing, and strong financial visibility across projects, working closely with project managers and operations to manage from setup to closeout in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in project accounting within construction.
• Exposure to MEP or HVAC construction environments strongly preferred.
• Experience with job costing and project-based accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions for assigned construction projects from initiation through closeout.
• Maintain accurate job cost tracking, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
• Monitor project budgets and identify cost variances.
• Prepare and manage owner billings and progress invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Process billing through systems such as Procore or similar platforms.
• Track contract values, change orders, and billing status.
• Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments.
• Ensure proper coding and allocation of costs to projects.
• Maintain accurate records of all project-related financial transactions.
• Track and manage project compliance documentation (lien waivers, insurance, etc.).
• Ensure all financial processes align with internal controls and regulatory standards.
• Generate project-level financial reports including: Job cost reports, Accounts receivable, Contract status reports.
• Partner with project managers to provide financial insights and updates.
• Support month-end close and reconciliations related to project accounts.
