Job summary

Career Team, a US-based organization with PH operations, seeks a Payroll Systems & Tax Director to lead our Philippines payroll from PH. You will own US multi-state payroll and tax compliance while building and scaling a PH-based payroll team, reporting to the VP of Human Resources.

You will work 100% remotely from the Philippines, align with US hours (PH night shift), and partner with US Finance and HR leaders to drive automation and compliant payroll operations across 15+ states.

Qualifications

• 8+ years US multi-state payroll experience with 3+ years in people leadership.
• Experience building, structuring, or scaling a Philippines-based payroll team.
• Deep expertise in US multi-state tax compliance (SUTA/FUTA, FICA, W-2/W-3, state nexus).
• Advanced Excel: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Macros, Power Query, large datasets.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication for US stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Comfort working 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM PHST to align with US hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a PH-based payroll team; hire, structure, and coach.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll across 15+ US states; escalate complex tax issues.
• Manage multi-state tax compliance, filing, and reconciliations.
• Own Payroll Systems: ADP Workforce Now; ensure integration and optimization.
• Register new state tax IDs and oversee compliance across the US footprint.
• Respond to federal/state tax notices, garnishments, and year-end reconciliations (W-2/W-3).
• Deliver executive payroll reports to the C-suite, including 401(k) status and audits.
• Drive automation to shift from manual processing to scalable, audit-ready operations.
