Job summary

B Consulting is seeking a meticulous Payroll Operations Manager to lead end-to-end payroll for our firm and clients. This remote role focuses on accurate processing, multi-state compliance, and continuous improvements in controls and reporting.

You will manage domestic and international payroll through EOR providers, collaborate with HR and Finance, and ensure timely payroll runs and accurate tax filings across a growing portfolio of startups.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of U.S. payroll experience across multi-state regimes.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. tax and labor regulations.
• Experience with payroll platforms (Gusto, Justworks, Rippling, Deel, Sequoia One).
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, data validation, reconciliation).
• Experience with payroll reconciliations and audit support.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle U.S. and international payroll processing across multiple clients, including international payrolls managed through EOR providers.
• Serve as the internal payroll subject matter expert, partnering with HR and Accounting/Finance leads.
• Manage payroll platforms including various systems.
• Ensure accurate processing of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
• Handle multi-state payroll compliance, tax filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s).
• Reconcile payroll reports, benefit invoices, and payroll-related GL accounts.
• Support month-end close activities, including payroll accruals and reporting.
• Assist with payroll-related equity compensation processing and tax withholding.
