GoLean Health is seeking a Back-Office Insurance & Prior Authorization Virtual Medical Assistant to support a US nonprofit behavioral health organization. This remote role focuses on administrative insurance work, enrollment readiness, and ensuring smooth patient progression through the process.

The position involves insurance verification, prior authorizations, and financial eligibility tasks, with a 30-hour weekly schedule and a pay rate of $5–$6 per hour. Strong English communication and U.S.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in insurance verification for US plans and Medicaid.
• Experience handling prior authorization workflows with payer portals.
• Knowledge of EHR or practice-management systems and HIPAA compliance.
• Strong documentation and data-entry skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits with commercial insurance and Medicaid.
• Initiate and process prior authorization requests per payer and clinic rules.
• Identify missing information and ensure completion to move enrollment forward.
• Assist with patient intake, enrollment, and demographic/insurance data accuracy.
• Support provider credentialing and payer enrollment activities as needed.
• Update patient demographics, authorization details, and eligibility data in the EHR.
• Review and prioritize backlog cases, guiding next actions to resolution.
• Provide cross-functional admin support and coordinate with bilingual front-desk staff.
• Help document and update SOPs for insurance verification, authorizations, and enrollment.
