Job summary

RunRemote is seeking a Data and Finance Analyst for a UK-based sustainability consultancy. This 100% remote role focuses on turning unstructured data into clean datasets, performing carbon accounting support, and delivering accurate Excel reports for clients.

Candidates should be highly proficient in Excel, with strong analytical mindset, experience with expense data, and the ability to work in a consulting environment. UK time zone alignment is part of the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, auditing or financial analysis, ideally within a consulting environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, data cleaning, filtering, sorting and efficient handling of large datasets.
• Experience working with expense data, purchase ledgers, utility data or similar financial and operational documents.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail, including identifying unusual patterns and inconsistencies.
• Comfortable transforming inconsistent formats (Excel, PDF, scanned docs) into structured datasets.
• Commercially minded with the ability to translate data into client outcomes.
• Excellent written communication in professional English and ability to explain data issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support client delivery across carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, research and wider operational activities.
• Review and clean raw client data across utility, logistics, financial and operational sources.
• Consolidate data from various formats into structured Excel reports used in internal carbon modelling tools.
• Reformat messy spreadsheets and align data by scope, location, date and emission source.
• Spot and flag anomalies such as mismatched dates, spikes, duplicates or incorrect units.
• Prepare bullet-style discrepancy reports to assist consultants in client follow-up.
• Use advanced Excel functions to improve data structure, readability and quality.
• Collaborate via Microsoft Teams, Slack and other tools to clarify data issues.
• Occasionally assist in assigning emission factors or flag missing information for client input.
• Work with consulting and delivery teams to ensure timely, high-quality outputs.
• Help reduce turnaround times for data prep and contribute to high-quality reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in data prep processes and efficiency.
