Job summary

STAFFVIRTUAL is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to handle day-to-day bookkeeping, financial close, reconciliations, and monthly reporting for multiple entities. The role requires ownership of the accounting cycle and collaboration with the outside CPA/accounting firm to ensure accurate records.

The ideal candidate has strong QuickBooks Online expertise, accrual accounting knowledge, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial reporting.
• Advanced experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and general ledger accounting.
• Proven experience with monthly financial close and account reconciliations.
• Strong accounts payable and vendor management experience.
• Experience with payroll accounting and reconciliation.
• Experience preparing and interpreting P&L statements and balance sheets.
• Strong ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
• Strong analytical skills, financial judgment, and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong organizational and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate books for multiple entities using QuickBooks Online.
• Record transactions, maintain the general ledger, and prepare journal entries.
• Manage accounts payable including invoicing, vendor records, payments, and obligations.
• Conduct monthly bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies, duplicate payments, and unusual activity.
• Own the monthly financial close process with accruals and close schedules.
• Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash position).
• Identify variances and emerging financial concerns for leadership.
• Assist with budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, and financial analysis.
