Job summary

BruntWork is hiring for a remote, full-time Independent Contractor role in US-based medical billing, focusing on benefits eligibility for Spravato services. The candidate will verify coverage across portals, process authorizations, and maintain documentation with high accuracy.

The role requires 2 years in US medical billing or related billing experience, strong communication, and the ability to work on a night shift aligning with New York time.

Qualifications

• 2-year college degree required.
• 2-year US medical billing experience or 2-year medical billing experience in a practice (including credentialing, authorizations, reimbursement) preferred, behavioral health exposure a plus.
• Must have backup power supply (extra laptop/power bank/generator/UPS).
• Detail oriented with above-average organizational skill.
• Able to plan and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Stay on top of benefits requests via email and client-specific applications.
• Benefits checks completed within an hour.
• Know methods to verify benefits (insurance portals, carrier portals, general portals, or calling carriers).
• Check documentation for requested insured patients.
• Update information in systems per client requirements.
• Monthly eligibility checks to confirm plan activity across systems.
