Job summary

AboitizPower is seeking an experienced Reliability and Performance Management Engineer to monitor and improve the thermal performance and reliability of coal-fired power plants. You'll collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Management to drive continuous improvements and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes diagnosing failures, improving heat rate, and implementing ISO-aligned management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years in coal-fired thermal power plant ops and maintenance, with 2+ years in performance/reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Reliability & Risk Analysis: support root-cause analysis for critical equipment and monitor asset risks.
• Plant Performance & Efficiency: monitor heat rate and subsystems, conduct inspections to reduce availability losses.
• Compliance & Stakeholder Reporting: prepare operational reports and regulatory submissions for stakeholders.
• Standards & Management Systems: ensure ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001 compliance and safeguard data integrity.

As Reliability and Performance Management Engineer, you will monitor, evaluate, and recommend continuous improvements in the thermal performance and operational reliability of our power plant assets, contributing directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Management teams to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Equipment Reliability & Risk Analysis: Support root-cause analysis for critical equipment, monitor asset risks, apply condition monitoring systems, and analyze failure trends to minimize disruptions.
• Plant Performance & Efficiency: Monitor and report overall plant thermal performance (heat rate) and subsystems (boilers, turbines, condensers), conducting inspections to resolve availability losses.
• Compliance & Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare operational compliance reports, generation statistics, and regulatory submissions for external stakeholders and market requirements.
• Standards & Management Systems: Ensure full compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, 55001) while safeguarding data integrity and site safety guidelines.

What You Will Need:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Registered Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineer license.
  • At least 5 years of experience in coal-fired thermal power plant operations and maintenance with at least 2 years dedicated to performance/reliability engineering.
• Technical / Functional Skills:
  • Deep understanding of power plant diagnostic testing, heat rate reporting, and condition monitoring systems.
  • Functional familiarity with power plant regulatory requirements, market integration, and ISO integrated management systems.
