Job summary

Ac Sacred Heart Medical Center is seeking a Radiation Therapist to provide radiation therapy services for cancer and other diseases. The role focuses on accurate patient positioning, data entry for dose controls, and coordination of treatment schedules under radiation oncologists' prescriptions.

You will maintain radiotherapy equipment, perform routine QA, ensure radiation safety, and guide students or junior therapists.

Qualifications

• Experience with radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation.
• Knowledge of radiation protection principles and safety standards.
• Ability to supervise students or junior therapists in clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate patient records and perform clerical duties as required.
• Perform daily and monthly QA procedures on equipment per instructions.
• Train and supervise student or subordinate radiation therapy technologists.

About the role

Radiation Therapist shall provide radiation therapy services to patients in the management of cancer or other disease processes, with special expertise in operating imaging and radiation therapy equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Position patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription

• Enter data into computer and set controls to operate and adjust equipment and regulate dosage

• Implement appropriate follow-up care plans and review prescription, diagnosis, and patient chart

• Maintain and ensure proper operation of radiotherapy and ancillary equipment to administer radiation treatment prescribed by radiation oncologists, observing radiation safety measures and practice standards

• Deliver safe and accurate radiation treatment to patients, complete treatment processes and coordinate patient scheduling

• Provide explanation of procedural guidelines and counseling to facilitate and reassure patients

• Monitor and ensure patient's physical and psychological well-being during the entire course of treatment

• Maintain accurate patient records and perform clerical duties as required

• Perform daily and monthly mechanical QA procedures on equipment according to Medical Physicist instruction and manufacturers' recommendations

• Train and supervise student or subordinate radiation therapy technologists

About you

• Require to work with sealed radioactive materials, such as cobalt and strontium

• Ability to operate electronic and mechanical equipment necessary to assist with administration of radiation treatment

• Follow principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others
