Dermesse Inc. is seeking an experienced R&D Manager (Cosmetics) to lead our cosmetics research and development efforts. You will guide formulation, oversee stability testing, and ensure regulatory compliance across products from concept to commercialization.

You will manage a multidisciplinary team, drive innovation, and collaborate with QA, Regulatory, and Marketing to deliver safe, high-quality cosmetics that meet industry standards and consumer expectations.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years in cosmetics R&D or related field.
• Experience with formulation in skincare, haircare, or color cosmetics.
• Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, regulatory requirements, and safety standards (ISO, FDA).
• Experience with stability testing, shelf-life assessment, and QA methodologies.
• Proven leadership in managing and mentoring R&D teams.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication.
• Familiarity with regulatory submissions and agencies is advantageous.

About the role

Dermesse Inc. is seeking an experienced R & D Manager (Cosmetics) to lead our research and development efforts in the cosmetics sector. This is a full-time position, where you will drive innovation and oversee the development of cutting-edge cosmetic products. As R & D Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our product portfolio, ensuring compliance with food technology and safety standards, and positioning Dermesse Inc. at the forefront of the cosmetics industry. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team whilst managing complex product development projects from conception through commercialization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the research and development team, providing strategic direction and mentorship to achieve departmental objectives

• Oversee the development and formulation of innovative cosmetic products, ensuring quality and efficacy standards are met

• Conduct comprehensive product testing and stability studies to ensure safety, regulatory compliance and consumer satisfaction

• Manage the product development lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping through to final commercialization

• Ensure all products comply with relevant cosmetic regulations, safety standards and industry guidelines

• Collaborate with quality assurance, regulatory and marketing teams to streamline product development processes

• Monitor emerging trends and technologies in the cosmetics industry and evaluate their application to our product range

• Prepare technical documentation, reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory bodies

• Manage R & D budgets and resources effectively, optimizing costs without compromising on innovation or quality

• Conduct literature reviews and stay abreast of scientific advancements relevant to cosmetic science

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred

• Minimum 5 plus years of professional experience in cosmetics research and development or a related field

• Proven experience in cosmetic product formulation, including skincare, haircare, color cosmetics or similar categories

• Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, regulatory requirements and safety standards (ISO, FDA, or equivalent

• Experience with stability testing, shelf-life assessment and quality control methodologies

• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and mentoring R & D teams

• Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple product development projects simultaneously

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail

• Knowledge of food technology and safety principles as they apply to cosmetic and personal care products is highly desirable

• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation commonly used in cosmetic testing

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Experience with regulatory submissions and working with regulatory agencies is advantageous
