Position Summary

The Purchasing Specialist – Seafood is responsible for the day-to-day operational, logistical, and commercial execution of the Seafood category. This role ensures that all purchase‑related operations are managed accurately, proactively, and in compliance with Andes internal standards and the regulatory requirements of destination markets. The Purchasing Specialist – Seafood works closely with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams to manage cross‑trade logistics, documentation, labeling, inspections, and ongoing communication with international partners. The role requires strong attention to detail, solid logistics knowledge, and a commercial mindset to support smooth operations and long‑term supplier relationships.

The role requires availability and willingness to travel internationally to support commercial exposure, including attendance at industry fairs, and visits to suppliers, factories, and clients, as part of the professional development within the Seafood category.

Key Accountabilities
  • Logistics Management (Cross Trade)
    • End‑to‑end management of cross‑trade logistics operations.
    • Booking management and freight coordination.
    • Follow‑up on schedules, transit times, operational changes, and issue resolution.
    • Ongoing coordination with freight forwarders, agents, and suppliers.
    • Ensuring operational flow and compliance with critical timelines.
  • Purchasing Operations (Non‑Quotation Activities)
    • Documentation
      • Daily, proactive review of Seafood supplier documentation.
      • Internal validation of documents in line with Andes procedures.
      • Early identification and correction of errors, avoiding dependency on clients or external agents.
      • Ensuring consistency, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
    • Labeling and Packaging Design
      • Preparation, review, and validation of label and packaging designs.
      • Ensuring compliance with destination country regulations.
      • High attention to detail and alignment with commercial and regulatory requirements.
    • Inspections
      • Requesting and following up on inspections.
      • Review of labeling and storage condition inspections from an operational perspective.
      • Coordination with suppliers and third‑party inspection entities.
  • Supplier and Client Relationship Management (Commercial Profile)
    • Daily communication with international suppliers and clients.
    • Building and maintaining relationships based on trust, closeness, and professionalism.
    • Strong cultural and commercial sensitivity in written and verbal communication.
    • Clear understanding of how communication style impacts future negotiations.
  • Seafood Knowledge and Development
    • Application of technical knowledge related to Seafood products.
    • Continuous learning of markets, species, presentations, and regulations.
    • Progressive evolution toward purchasing responsibilities once operational functions are fully consolidated.
  • Travel and Market Exposure
    • Availability and willingness to travel internationally to attend Seafood industry fairs and trade shows.
    • Participation in visits to suppliers, factories, and clients to support commercial understanding and category development.
Required Experience and Skills
Education and Experience
  • 3 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, trading, or similar roles.
  • Solid knowledge of international logistics and cross‑trade operations (mandatory).
  • Experience working with Asia-based suppliers (highly valued).
  • Strong knowledge of the Seafood sector (key requirement).
Languages
  • Advanced Spanish and English (written and spoken).
  • Additional languages are a plus.
